Legislative Update
Senate Bill S476, which was the TWO LICENSE challenge legislative, has been pulled from consideration, effective Thursday, March 11th, 2010 and Assembly Bill A2591 was introduced by Assemblyman Louis Greenwald on Monday, March 22nd. This new bill was also referred to the Assembly Regulatory Oversight Committee instead of the Assembly Law & Public Safety Committee. Clearly, the cat is out of the bag and some south Jersey legislators are rewriting the rule book relating to how any new legislation relating to Alcoholic Beverages are handled.
Our position is that there is no reason to change anything, because nothing is wrong with the current law, which we feel serves the best interest our State. Clearly, any change in our current law would only serve the “out of state” interests that have attempted to create a false perception that they are representing in state interests with their propaganda and unbalance use of public relations media.
The NJLSA will fight any attempt to change the two-license limit in order to protect and defend our livelihoods, as well as what is unquestionably in our consumers and publics best interest!!!

There are several legislative bills floating that relate to Internet shipping, keg registration, recycling bottle deposits, in-store samplings for beer and spirits and, most importantly, the two-license challenge. We anticipate the last one will make an end-run return sometime in the first half of this year, more than likely during the final overtime period of our state budget approval wheeling and dealing process.
We all need to be prepared. Please start by sending in your dues along with your political '6-Pac' donations. If there was ever a time to get involved, the time is now.
